The TV model number is the exact identity of your television. You usually need it to find compatible spare parts, remotes, software, manuals and repair information. This guide shows exactly where to look and what to send us.
What Is a TV Model Number?
A model number is a combination of letters and numbers assigned to a particular television model. It is much more specific than the brand name or screen size.
Model number
The information we normally need. Look for Model, Model No. or Model Code.
Serial number
A separate code unique to one individual TV. It may be marked Serial No. or S/N.
Screen size
“32-inch”, “43-inch” or “55-inch” is only the size. It is not the complete model number.
Brand name
Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Mi and other brand names are not enough by themselves.
Your actual model may be shorter or longer. Copy every letter, number, dash and suffix exactly as printed.
Check the Sticker on the Back of the TV
Most televisions have a white, silver or black information label fixed to the rear cabinet. The label may be near the input ports, in a lower corner, at the centre bottom or along one side.
- Stand behind the television or look carefully from one side.
- Find the information sticker containing several lines and usually a barcode.
- Locate the line marked Model, Model No. or Model Code.
- Take a clear photo before copying the number.
Important: Do not copy the number printed on the remote control, set-top box, wall mount, motherboard or another connected device.
Words to Look for on the Label
Manufacturers use different wording. Any of the following may identify the TV model:
- Copy capital letters and numbers exactly.
- Include dashes, slashes and suffixes such as IN, XL or XX.
- Check easily confused characters: O/0, I/1, S/5 and B/8.
- Keep a photo of the full sticker for verification.
Do not use these as the TV model
- Serial No. or S/N only
- Barcode number only
- Remote-control model number
- Board or PCB number
- Screen size alone
Find the Model Number in TV Settings
Smart TVs usually display product information inside the settings menu. The wording and sequence can differ by brand, software version and year.
Cannot find the same menu? Search for “About”, “Information”, “Support”, “Device Preferences”, “Contact” or “System Information”. Menu names can vary even within the same brand.
How to Check a Wall-Mounted TV
Do not pull a large television away from the wall by yourself. In many cases, the sticker can be photographed from the side or viewed with a small mirror.
- Switch on the phone torch and use the rear camera.
- Slide the phone carefully into the side gap without touching ports or cables.
- Use camera zoom rather than forcing the phone too close.
- Use a hand mirror if the label faces the wall.
- If the photo is mirrored, use the phone’s flip function.
Safety first
Switch off and unplug the TV before moving it or reaching behind it. Do not remove a heavy TV from its wall mount without trained help and another adult.
Check the Box, Manual or Invoice
When the sticker is damaged or unreachable, try these places:
Original box
Look for a large barcode label on one side of the carton.
User manual
Check the cover, specifications page or first few pages.
Invoice
Review the full product description on the bill or order email.
Verify it: An invoice may contain a shortened sales name rather than the complete model code. Whenever possible, confirm it against the TV’s own label.
What Can a Model Number Look Like?
There is no single universal format. Model numbers can contain screen-size digits, letters, dashes and regional suffixes. The following are pattern examples only.
Correct approach
Copy the complete value printed after Model or Model Code, including the final letters.
Incomplete approach
Sending only the size and brand does not identify the television.
Take a Clear Photo of the Full Sticker
A clear photograph is better than manually typing a long code. It lets our team verify letters, numbers, suffixes and other useful product details.
- Clean the phone camera lens.
- Keep the complete sticker inside the frame.
- Tap the model-number line to focus.
- Avoid strong flash glare and shadows.
- Take one full-label photo and one closer photo.
- Open the photo and zoom in to confirm it is readable.
Common Mistakes Customers Make
Sending the serial number
The serial number may look official, but it is not the same as the model number.
Sending only the screen size
Many different models exist in the same size and can use different internal parts.
Photographing another device
Set-top boxes, soundbars, remotes and wall mounts have their own labels.
Missing the final suffix
Letters at the end can identify a region, version or product variation. Copy them too.
Sending only a board number
A PCB or part number can be useful, but it does not replace the TV’s model number.
Using an online image
Send a photo of your own TV label. Similar-looking televisions may be different models.
Model Number Is the Starting Point—Not Always the Only Check
Televisions with the same model can sometimes contain different board versions, panels, cables or backlight sets. For accurate verification, keep the following ready when requested:
Copied exactly from the TV label.
Clear and uncropped, with all lines readable.
Front and back images of the board, strip, cable or module.
Send close-up photos of printed and sticker codes.
Best practice: Do not order only because another product has the same screen size, connector shape or a similar-looking board.
TV Model Number Help
Is the TV model number the same as the serial number?
No. The model number identifies the television model, while the serial number identifies one individual unit. Look for “Model”, “Model No.” or “Model Code”, not only “Serial No.” or “S/N”.
Is the screen size my TV model number?
No. A size such as 32-inch, 43-inch or 55-inch is only one characteristic. Many different models are made in the same size.
My TV does not switch on. How can I find the model?
Use the rear product label, original carton, user manual, purchase invoice or online order confirmation. The rear sticker remains the preferred source.
My TV is mounted on the wall. Should I remove it?
Usually not. Try the TV settings first, or photograph the rear label from the side using your phone, zoom, torch and a small mirror. Do not remove a heavy TV without proper help.
The rear sticker is faded or damaged. What should I do?
Take several photos from different angles in good light. Also check the TV settings, original box, manual and invoice. Send all available images to our support team.
Can I send the number printed on my remote?
No. The remote-control model identifies the remote, not the television. Find the product label attached to the TV cabinet.
Can two TVs with the same screen size use different parts?
Yes. The same brand and size can include many models, and even the same model may have different internal part versions. Verification may require TV-label and original-part photos.
Why must I include the letters at the end?
The suffix can help distinguish a regional version, production variation or exact model code. Copy the number exactly as printed, including all final letters and punctuation.
The model shown in Settings and on the rear label are different. Which should I send?
Send clear photos of both. Use the physical rear product label as the primary reference and tell us if the TV has previously been repaired or had a board replaced.
Is a TV model number enough to confirm every spare part?
Not always. It is the essential starting point, but some parts also require matching the original board number, panel number, strip code, connector layout or clear photographs.
